I have a jewelry problem.

And I’m not afraid to talk about it.

The first time I bought myself a piece of fine jewelry was in December 2007 when I was vacationing with my family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was working my first corporate job out of college and felt the burning of hard-earned disposable income in my pocket. My mom and sister have never been the type to go gaga for diamonds, so they were surprised when I asked to stop into a local fine jewelry store. And there I saw it: a petite, yellow gold ring featuring a center emerald and dual-flanking diamonds. It was understated, beautiful, and so regal. Having never before spent so much on a single item (and for the record, we’re talking three figures), I agonized about the purchase, but eventually decided the ring would make a wonderful souvenir of a very special trip. And thus began the rest of my life as a jewelry admirer, collector, and fanatic.

Because I can’t wear all my favorite pieces every day, I will use this forum to showcase them and share their unique stories, and maybe even learn something new along the way. While I do love to ogle and occasionally invest in fine jewelry, my collection of treasured jewels consists of a mix of “real” and costume, trendy and vintage. Regardless of their provenance, each piece has a story and holds magic for me. I hope you enjoy!
